Cosne-Cours-sur-Loire - Sunday, 15th March

Woke this morning nice and early as we wanted to get on the road pronto. Beautiful day so took Tom for a good run and stretched our legs. On the road by 7.30am and had such a great drive again - out of the Macif Central which is spectacular. On our journey we came across a bridge that was designed by Monseur Eiffel - which is your picture tonight. We put over 400 kilometres on the dial so it was a long drive. Surprisingly we found a supermarket open - on a Sunday - which was brilliant. It was not horrendously busy - there were toilet rolls and almost everything else still on the shelves - the population here are not panic buying. There are a lot of folk wearing masks though which is very weird. but we were able to get all the supplies we needed to see us through til we get back to the UK. So, just the vet tomorrow and we will be sorted. The road we followed today was generally the A71 to Cosne-Course-sur-Loire. Went for a walk around the town which was quiet, but we have found France to be very quiet as a general rule during our time here. However, one has the feeling today that this is a country holding its collective breath - maybe that it how the world is feeling just now.

Moving on, I found this Aire which is on the River Loire just by Googling can you believe. The Aires book which has been a great source didn’t have anything to offer today and neither did Park4night so really chuffed to find this little beauty. And it is lovely, we are the only van here tonight so should be peaceful. The Aire is really well lit and offers disposal facilities and water and is all free. The scenery today has again been breathtaking. The weather warm and gorgeous. We have however both been bitten by mozzies overnight which is not nice 🤨. I just cannot wait to get back here in the Moho and see more - neither of us can. We look forward to another day tomorrow and will feel mightily relieved to get the necessary veterinary stuff sorted, then we can happily come through the Channel Tunnel and home. Sleep well folks and nighty night
