Spain - a time to reflect

Writer: The Cornish MaidThe Cornish Maid

Woke up this morning to another lovely day - although not before we were woken up at midnight by the refuse collection lorry, then some motorcycles, then a drip formed by condensation off the back of the van that sounded like the tick tocking of the clock - all night!!! - but apart from that, all fine and dandy.

Well, no doubt you will all know by now that Spain is entering lockdown phase - even as we left Lloret this morning, there were patrols of police on the motorway blocking the exit points to some towns and villages due a large increase of cases of the virus.

We continued with our plan to stop at Empurius - this is the free site we stopped at for a few nights on our way down through Spain, and we so wanted to see it again before we continue into France. It does not disappoint. In fact, I think it feels more beautiful than before. It must be true love. Went to the beach when we arrived and I walked the shoreline with Tom having a paddle in the warm (yes, warm!) sea whilst Tom pretended to fetch sticks, wherever I threw them - reality being I threw a stick, Tom looked everywhere but where it was thrown and then looked eagerly at me to throw it again - one gets used to it after a while. Bless his heart. Alan watched from the sidelines - made our way to the hotel where we had decided to have supper - only to be told they don’t start taking orders til 8pm! Well, in our world that’s too darned late, so we had a drink and I cooked a pizza for our supper which was very tasty and we saved that particular supper money for another day!

Tomorrow we head for the Pyrenees and who knows where we shall land for tomorrow night. The plan is, there is no plan ............nighty night
